We currently have a huge need to recruit more foster carers in Lancashire and we would like the opportunity to help you find out more by providing you with all the information you might need to decide whether you could be a good foster carer.
On the day there will be a presentation with general information about fostering; we will talk about the types of fostering, the ages of children who are looking for homes and the behaviours they might present with, why children come in to foster care and how you can make a difference.
This will be followed by an opportunity for you to talk to experienced Alpha Plus foster carers, social workers and support workers to ask the questions most important to you. There will be tables around the room with a foster carer and social worker at each to guide you to the best people to answer you questions about fostering.
The stations will consist of:
1) Fostering Siblings
2) Fostering Teenagers
3) Parent and Child Fostering
4) Types of Fostering – Short term, long term and respite
5) Education and Support for Children
6) Support for Carers. Including Helping Hands
7) Training and Development
8) Financial Support
Each of our stations will be occupied by a supporting social worker and one of our existing foster carers.
Located just minutes from the M6, M61 and M65 the Valley Church Coffee Shop will be ours for the day! With 8 stations setup each dedicated to a different aspect of fostering, so if you have any questions about any aspect of fostering come along and we will be more than happy to help you out.
Lunch will be provided, so you don’t have to worry about that.
So come along and see Nicky and the Team and get all of the answers you need.
We can’t wait to meet you!
Nicky and the AlphaPlus Team
