Foster Care Fortnight
NFA Group are proud to be part of Foster Care Fortnight working closely with The Fostering Network!
Foster Care Fortnight is The Fostering Network’s annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering and to show how foster care can transform lives. It is also the UK’s biggest foster carer recruitment campaign.
Established for almost 20 years, The Fostering Network is the leading fostering charity in the UK. Fostering Fortnight showcases the commitment, dedication and passion of foster carers, but also highlights the need to find more amazing people – over 7,000 more foster families are going to be needed across the UK in the next 12 months. Older children, sibling groups and disabled children are the most in need of foster carers, and we hope to reach some of the incredible people who can become carers for these children through this campaign.
Proud to Foster
There are many misconceptions and myths about foster care, which are widely held as fact – we hope to show how wrong these are and how people form all walks of life can be and are foster carers. We will do this through introducing some of our brilliant foster carers and our dedicated staff who are all proud to foster and support foster care initiatives. Through video, social media and blogs we will share the stories of our carers and hopefully show people that they can foster too.
One of our recent collaboration projects was working with Unity Dance Company, a superb streetdance company who worked with some of our looked after children to compile the video below – as well as performing their final dance at the North London Children’s Achievement Awards ceremony.
The Looked After Children who took part all had such positive experiences and we hope they will continue to dance and grow in confidence as a result of being involved with this amazing project. Our Huge thanks go out to Tashan Muir, MD of Unity Dance Company and Karla McKeown and Zeenabb Arleen who worked tirelessly in training and coaching the children.
Now back to our carers!
Nobody likes being filmed, right? Well our carers let their passion for fostering outweigh their fear of the video camera to share with us why they are proud to foster! Here is a montage of some of the videos we have shot recently with our carers which we will be following up part with two at the end of Foster Care Fortnight!
